Bringing back the beat | WN23-06

The first version of Weeknotes was a lockdown project. A small locus of control as administrative bodies thought they had control over the elements themselves. And what I wrote about that reflected the nature of that moment; what I had been reading on the internet. The world opened up, and I moved city. Routines changed, the cadence of reading, writing, publishing stopped.

And, things have kept on changing; new job, new home, events, music. Things undocumented. Some of which not worth rehashing in retrospect. Some of which ongoing. So, there are things to learn, things to do, and from it things to share. So, I might change up the format, but bring back the pulse.

Today, I have something to share. Last May, I went to a workshop run by John Harrigan. It was intense and wide-ranging, and a crucible for change and action. I came away with the commitment to write and share something, and an expectant audience. Which set me into action. Wisely or recklessly, I channelled that energy into gear. I bought a dozen Eurorack modules, two other pieces of hardware, one software VST, and a lot of cables. And I set about experimenting with them.

So, I have a lot to talk about. But for today, and towards the end of the year, I focused on the Syntakt. And I’d like to share what I’ve come up with. And, with that done, I can move on to the next thing. So, expect another update, if not in a week, a month. And between now and then, let’s see if I have anything else to write about

chao.
